I am really looking forward to this week's show as it is time for another awesome West Aussie band on for the Local Band Showcase. Plus, I have a heap of new music dug up from the heavy underground!
Elephant Orgy are a local stoner rock / doom band that I have been following for some time now. The band has their upcoming album release and launch shows and are definitely something to look out for.
The local stoner rock / doom band is set to release their new album this month and they are hosting launch shows to coincide with the release. The band has been around the live scene for four years now delivering their massive heavy sound that has their own take on low 'n' slow, heavy, psychedelic, and mind-bending music.
I have seen them live a couple of times now and the band creates a mesmerizing wall of sound, with each instrument being clearly audible. This is due to the heavy, slow riffs and pummeling drums, and great use of space, feedback and reverb to create a dense soundscape. Their latest album is sure to please fans of the genre and newcomers alike.
They've been hustling to put the finishing touches on their debut album, which they've been working on for a while. We've been working on this album for a while now and we're very excited to share it with everyone, says the band's founder, drummer - Jay Sellers. Like a lumbering majestic pachyderm, the band's sound is a mix of heavy riffs, hypnotic rhythms and dark, atmospheric melodies, with vocal duties shared by Father Jay on drums and son Josh on guitar, and the low-end stampede by Mat on bass.
The band has been working hard in the studio for months and is excited to finally share their music with the world. The album release show will be a celebration of all their hard work. The band will be performing their new album in its entirety, as well as some of their older material. The two launch shows are one in the city with other awesome West Aussie heavy bands Twin Serpents, Vulgrite and Modern Mantra and one 'down south' with Witchcliff and DeadEcho. They will be playing at Lucy's Love Shack, Perth on Friday the 11th of November and at the Capel Country Club on Saturday the 12th of October.
